Tad Kubler (of The Hold Steady) + Friends

Tad Kubler plays lead guitar in The Hold Steady.  Rolling Stone Magazine called “Boys and Girls In America” one of the Top Ten albums of 2006 and the band was named Blender Magazine’s 2006 “Band of The Year.”  In November 2007, the band wrapped up a 16 month world tour in front of three thousand people at New York’s Terminal 5.  Originally from Janesville, Wisconsin, Tad lives in Brooklyn where The Hold Steady is currently recording its new album.

HOLD STEADY MESSAGE BOARD: TOPIC "Tad Kubler and Friends"   BEGINS WITH

Great little afternoon gig at the Living Room in NYC.

It might have been described as the perfect afternoon.

Tad with Doug (mystery solved) and Franz in the living room with numerous 3-6 year olds. Great stuff.

Tad busted out twin Townes Van Zandt tunes with Franz on accordian and Doug on the other acoustic.

Then for the special guests. My personal favorite Emilyn "Cupcake Punk" Brodsky on a beautiful Billy Bragg cover "New England". Emily, you rock my world!

CF rocked it on "Citrus" with Franz on the roadhouse piano. Great stuff!

Koob is a natural on the mic. Fun day. (Unified Scene #7)

Another post: Man, I love raising kids in the City on days like yesterday. (So_much_joy_indeed)

Langhorne Slim and the War Eagles played "Honey Pie", "Diamonds and Gold", "The Electric Love Letter" (with reference to Hannah Montana and visiting your parents!) and "I Will".

Note from a parent about Feb 10:
PS Langhorne Slim signed my sons whoopy cushion (his idea - he is 6).
Langhorne said, it is the coolest thing he has ever signed in his whole career! He couldn't believe a 6yr old wanted it. Now I want to treasure it. I think they are going to be famous!
We will wear out t-shirts & feel like we are super cool......corny I know!  I just uploaded their music to my nano.

BACKGROUND: Langhorne Slim and The War Eagles are leaders of an emerging sound that "offer a sardonic, modern take on traditional folk, country and blues." (S. Mason)  Like touring mates The Avett Brothers and Lucero, Langhorne brings the passion, grit and urgency of The Pogues and Velvets to old time roots music.  The band is about to release its much anticipated follow-up to their major label EP "Engine."  (V2, 2006)  Their song "The Electric Love Letter" can be heard in the highly acclaimed indie film "Waitress" (Fox Searchlight, 2007) starring Keri Russell.
